I met a woman in Atlanta yesterday who couldn’t find her cane. She sat in the front row as the herd of passengers hurried to exit the aircraft with a posture of patience. “Can I help you?” I asked her. She smiled gratefully and explained that she couldn’t find her cane that she needed to help her walk. I searched the overhead bins and the closets without any luck. I felt awful in returning to her empty handed.

“I can help you walk off to a wheelchair but I don’t know what you will do the rest of the day without a cane,” I told her. She smiled cheerfully and shrugged her shoulders saying, “Oh well!” and then grabbed my arm to accept my assistance. She was on her way to Philadelphia – a city named after a tribe that I have studied deeply. And in pondering this encounter that seemed to linger with me over the next two days, I could hear the small voice within speaking to me about the meaning of this encounter in how it relates to my own walk at the moment.

Perhaps all of us have a cane we lean on – a crutch that we think we need in order to move forward from the ship we are ready to exit. I know I often catch myself making excuses to stay stuck in situations. Even when a door opens before me, I often can’t see it because I’m too busy looking behind me, beside me or down at the floor wondering if my feet my fail me should I have the courage to take a leap of faith forward. Maybe you have a cane too? Whether it’s a place, an object or even a person that you’ve lost along your journey, are you able to move forward without it/them and seek the destination alone – believing that you won’t fall?

I have watched others crossing over into doors I thought were meant for me and I’ve patiently waited for my turn to walk through. Perhaps the lesson in this for me is to remember to sit patiently until my name is called and to know that all I have lost along the way isn’t needed in the chapter ahead. I must simply wait.. be humble.. and be ready to take the hand that greets me and walk in faith knowing that God has preserved me for a time such as this.

31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31.

Sometimes understanding your gifts, your path & your purpose in this life only comes by way of being forced into action that requires you to experience these things live in action. When Josh suffered a massive TBI and lost over 70% of his brain in a single moment, I placed all my trust in science and medicine. I believed if I could get him to the best nueroscientists in the medical field they would have all the answers that I seeked.

I was standing in ICU Room #79 as the alarming sounds filled the hallway and teams swarmed Josh’s room to wheel him away into another back-to-back emergency brain surgery. I heard the nuerosurgeon say to the nurse, “Call the Priest to assist, She needs tell him Goodbye.” It was a statement that sent shockwaves through my system, sucking the breath of life from my lungs as my hope in human capabilities, (even my own) was instantly shattered.  But as quickly as the sting of death injected its venom of fear into my thoughts, another voice spoke from a place deep within me – a voice I’d never heard before; at least not so loudly.

When the team left and I was all alone in a moment of utter powerlessness, lying face down on the cold floor of ICU Room # 79, realizing all options had failed, something much greater than I came to share a vision that I will never forget.

This was the beginning of a journey in discovering absolute truth as an element available to us through an altered state of consciousness.  My connection to this light illuminated a vivid vision of what would happen, literally implanting a detailed moment into my consciousness & activating DNA with heightened sensory capabilities.  My vision down to the clothing articles I saw came true exactly 4 years later. The mystery of where that vision came from would open up my life to a new journey all together – the one I’m on today, here and now, writing my heartfelt words to you.

I published a documentary on this experience (all within a 6-week period) and have since appeared on many podcasts, radio shows and even on a National TV Show sharing the testimony of truth demonstrated by the man whos’ healing defies the limitations of modern medicine and Science.

If you are reading this you have GREAT PURPOSE to be here.  Maybe you don’t believe in God, realms beyond the Little Rock we all stand on that’s flying through a vast universe or maybe you fear delving into the subjects of the unknown. All of us are there at one point and eventually arrive at a point of asking questions because we have a need to know more about who we are, where we came from, why we’re here and what powers the beauty of love that stirs within us in moments of loss or mass change.. The first step is saying “Yes” to the call to seek. It’s an internal decision that no one can or should attempt to do for you as only you can know when you’re ready.

I’ve seen this truth demonstrated in my life for many seasons but coming out of a period in stark solitude, it’s a truth that demanded to be heard first and foremost.

I participated in a Sparks 2 Science session in a joint meeting with Dr. Anne Marie and a very special client who also works in the medical field and had recently lost a loved one to passing over to the other realms. The client connection was effortless, beautiful and full of wisdom.

Days passed and messages kept coming in to this beautiful soul. Today, one of those messages struck a chord in my heart. Do you believe we’re all connected with a divine purpose? Do you believe people who cross your path are meant to do so in the very moment they arrive? Do you believe when you say “yes” to working with another that the gifts pour out abundantly to all parties involved? I do.

Seeking a higher calling from a place of brokenness or a place of desire to fulfill God’s will here on the earth are equally blessed parts of the path that weave all of us into a masterpiece of a grander story – one that tells of God’s love for us, through us and touching all things in between.

Skyla is me. But she’s a multifaceted endless well of light that has no ending or beginning. In other words, she might be you too.

Love others as yourself because … well… they are.. your-self.
